Uska was born in Huginfel, daughter of the stablemaster, Prulgar. Soon after being sent to Jordheim for training, she met a Norse hunter, Cahn. Feeling herself falling in love with him and believing that she could not serve Eir if she loved a man, she made both public vows and a secret, private vow to Eir--that she would throth to no man but keep her heart fixed on Eir. Of course that secret vow was foolish and got her in a good deal of trouble. Now she pines for him and often sleeps for days and days and days at a time.
